funsiQuin Restaurant

The Restaurant

At home, we have always seen how our parents welcomed everybody who knocked at the door.
In the late 1980s, they opened a village bar for the miners, locals and some travellers who came at the time to try to see the Brown Bear.

Our mother Leonor loves to cook, so if anyone asked her if cooked meals, she always had in the charcoal kitchen kale soup ready, or a veal steak from home with fries to offer them. Little by little their traditional dishes became famous as the traditional Kale soup with meat, the Asturian fabada (a bean soup with meat), the stew of veal with potatoes from the garden or the cookie and chocolate cake for dessert.

In 2011 we made a reform, where we wanted to make an open and welcoming space using materials from the area such as chestnut wood and slate.

Taking advantage of the large gallery of south-facing windows that runs throughout the restaurant, we put an open kitchen in the center, where both from the bar and from the dining room you can see how the Chef cooks and at the same time enjoy the beautiful views of the valley ,observing the colors of the forest in each season.

Some of our ingredients

The farmer

The beef that we offer you, comes from the family farming with the seal of “Asturian Veal” of the breed of cow “Asturian of the Valleys”.
The quality of the meat is due to the fact that cows and their calves live most of the year outdoors, grazing the fresh pastures of the valley in spring and the mountains in summer.

Traditionally and with natural treatments we grow and collect most of the vegetables, vegetables and legumes we use to make our soups, vegetable garnishes and salads such as potatoes, onions, leeks, garlic, carrots, chard, cabbage, lettuce, green beans, beans, peas, pumpkins, zucchini…

Wood Traditional Oven "El Forno"

The Forno is our main work tool, where we make and bake different types of bread, empanadas, savory cakes, roasted meat and fish, pastries and desserts. As well as breads for our famous “funsiburguer” and the “Rapas del funsi” two of our specialties that you can not miss when you come to visit us.

Traditional cuisine

In our menu we offer traditional dishes made with products from family farm and garden with a nod to current gastronomic trends.

We always have options of dishes for children and for those people with food intolerances such as gluten, lactose or those who do not eat meat.
